Three Regional Regulations Draft for Two BUMDs Agreed by City Council

Jakarta City Council agrees the Home Ministry facilitation result of three Regional Regulation Drafts (Raperda) of PT Mass Rapid Transit (PT MRT) and PT Jakarta Industrial Estate Pulogadung (JIEP).

Jakarta City Council B Commission Legislator, Ismail, said those three Raperda are Amendment of Bylaw No 9/2018 about PT Mass Rapid Transit (PT MRT), Establishment of PT Jakarta Industrial Estate Pulogadung (Regional Company), and Regional Capital Participation of PT Jakarta Industrial Estate Pulogadung (Regional Company).

Ismail added the commission leaders have also submitted several inputs related to the three Raperda implementation. As the example, PT MRT Jakarta as asked to ensure the MRT integration with various other transportation modes such as Transjakarta.
"On its new Raperda, PT MRT Jakarta takes position as integrator of all transportation modes. It means good cooperation is needed," he added.
As for PT JIEP, Ismail continued, the council also delivered suggestion. In order to develop business, these two Raperda should be able to be the basis for PT JIEP. Later on, PT JIEP business model will not only rely on warehouse rentals, but also use a mixed-use business model.
"As the example, SCBD area can be developed more," he continued.
He stated that PT JIEP area will be more strategic since there will be three transportation modes to pass the area in its development planning. There was also discussion about the majority of PT JIEP's shares owned by Jakarta Provincial Government by 53 percent.
"Jakarta Provincial Government was also reminded about the position in its BOD and its board of commissioners. It was ensured in a position that can control," he stated.
He hopes the three Raperda about PT JIEP and PT MRT can boost the absorption of local manpower and maximize the Regional Revenue of Jakarta Provincial Government.
